New Book Launch & Social Media

It seems like a dream come true while at the same time, a huge impossibility. The book is finished. Now comes the promotion and the distribution. I choose to create awareness for the book on social media. You simply create an event on Facebook and make sure your settings are set to PUBLIC for the event (bottom left corner_ during the "create" phase. Once you save the event, there is no feature to go back and change that status. You will need to recreate the event.

Fortunately, if you use the symbol just to the right of the EDIT button, choose copy event, people you have already invited will automatically receive that second invite. That's a time-saver and also cuts down on the frustration of having to invite 400+ people to the event all over again. All I can say is, I will keep my eyes open for small glitches like that which make for "operator error".

In any case, I have created my own book launch, first PRIVATE and now PUBLIC as a Facebook Event though there are a lot of other places to promote your book online. This is just the first step.  I've created games and polls and contests to keep the guests engaged and get them thinking about the book, which by the way is "Apprehending the Kingdom". Our first giveaway was a signed copy of the book and our second giveaway was a $25 gift card good wherever Visa is accepted. Next week's prize is a SURPRISE so I hope you will join in the fun and the learning experience. To enter the drawing, you have to participate in at least one event during the prize week. Names are given a number as they enter and placed in a random number generator at the end of the week. Then I match that number to the name on my list. Piece of cake!
