I COULDN'T BELIEVE | HE SAID THAT | TO ME

I hadn't heard from him in over 20 years. At first the conversation was all small talk and catching up on who was where, how the kids had grown up, etc. Then out of the blue, he broadsided me with this question: "Are you still fat?" I was so stunned I couldn't answer. He moved on in the conversation but I was stuck at the end of the question mark. I just couldn't believe that after 20 years, that's all he wanted to know about me.

Who was he? A nobody really; the husband of a woman that I had ministered to for some time. I had plenty that I could have asked if he was "still" up to but I exercised self-control, thank God. But, there's good news. Just two (2) days later, I was rushing to get dressed and I pulled out a pair of slacks to just throw on for the moment. The tag inside said size 12 and I was just hoping against hope that I could force myself into them, if only for a few excruciating moments. To my surprise, they fit!
